Wasatch Railroad Contractors
Press Release
18 April 2006, 5pm PST
(Cheyenne, WY) The Union Pacific has been kind enough to tentatively schedule a meet between UP 844, SP 2472, and the Robert Dollar No. 3 at Hearst, CA, located on the UP line between Oakland and Stockton. As of this posting, both the Golden Gate Railroad Museum and the Pacific Locomotive Association have confirmed that their respective locomotives will be in attendance. The proposed meet will last anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes at Hearst, CA. If the schedule allows, the 844 will actually stop for that period of time. There is no actual meeting time scheduled. The 844 and train are scheduled to leave Oakland at about 9:00 a.m. on April 22nd.
Attendees be advised: This event was not scheduled with the UP prior to the trip. The UP has been kind enough to discuss this plan while in transit. We have been advised that they will do the best they can to meet the request, however no promises have been made.
Please do not contact UP about this event.
If for some reason the 844 can not stop, we ask that you simply thank the UP, the GGRM, and the PLA for at least making an effort to make this event happen. We wish to thank the UP for considering this request and for their participation in aiding in the planning of this event while on the road. Heaven knows they have enough to do without adding one more thing to the pile. Stop or no stop, No. 2472 and No. 3 will be at Hearst on April 22nd.
Respectfully and Thankfully,
GGRM (www.ggrm.org and PLA (www.ncry.org)
